Home School Agreement
At Westward we seek to provide a high quality of education that enables all our children to realise their potential and prepares them for life in a rapidly changing world. We support and guide our children’s development as independent, confident, responsible thinkers and learners within a secure, caring community where everyone is valued.
By making mutual commitment to this Agreement, the school and parents will continue to build and maintain a strong partnership between home and school for the benefit of every child.
The school will:
- Provide a happy, caring and safe environment to promote learning and well being.
- Encourage the children to be polite, cooperative and to respect each other.
- Provide support for both children and parental emotional needs.
- Promote high standards of work and behaviour as set out in the school’s aims and policies.
- Provide a broad and balanced curriculum that meets the needs of all children, developing their abilities and talents to the highest possible standard.
- Monitor pupil’s behaviour, taking fair and consistent action where necessary and informing parents/carers of any concerns.
- Deal with concerns promptly.
- Keep parents regularly informed about their child’s progress.
- Provide regular reports, both written and verbal.
- Ensure equality for all.
- Monitor all ICT network facilities to ensure Internet safety for all.

As a pupil I will:
- Follow school rules, work hard and make a positive contribution to the School Community.
- Respect other pupils, staff, visitors, myself and behave sensibly and courteously at all times.
- Be aware that racism, intolerance and bullying are unacceptable in our school.
- Keep myself and others in school safe.
- Attend school regularly and on time, avoiding ALL unnecessary absences.
- Be well prepared for the school day (well rested, well-fed and equipped with the right stationery and books).
- Wear the required uniform and PE kit and be tidy in my appearance.
- Complete homework on time to the best of my ability.
- Tell a grown up if I am worried about anything at school.
- Follow e-safety rules when working with electronic devices at home and at school.
- Understand that my actions on school computers are scrutinised by monitoring to ensure Internet safety for all.

As a parent I will:
- Take an interest in and support my child in their education and school.
- Support the school rules such as those on behaviour, e-safety, homework and uniform.
- Agree to work with the school to encourage respect and good behaviour.
- Notify the school of changes in telephone numbers, address or medical concerns regarding my child.
- Inform the school if there are any problems which could affect my child’s work or behaviour.
- Agree to adhere to the Parental Behaviour policy.
- Send my child to school, prepared for the day with all books, equipment and PE kit.
- Agree to abide by the rules of the school dress code, including hairstyles, clearly naming all clothing and equipment.
- Ensure that my child attends school regularly, arrives on time and is collected punctually.
- Inform the school on the first day of absence due to illness and other unforseen circumstances.
- Avoid all unnecessary absences, including holiday in school time.
- Provide a place at home that is as quiet as possible to ensure all homework is completed as instructed.
- Ensure my child uses ICT systems appropriately at home and at school, supporting the school in dealing with any incident of misuse.
